This is a really good song that my sister showed me the other day.
His Robes for Mine
Verse 1:
His robes for mine
O wonderful exchange!
Clothed in my sin.
Christ suffered ‘neath God’s rage.
Draped in His righteousness, I’m justified
In Christ I love, for in my place He died.
Chorus:
I cling to Christ, and marvel at the cost
Jesus forsaken, God e-stranged from God.
Bought by such love, my life is not my own
My praise my all shall be for Christ alone.
Verse 2:
His robes for mine:
What cause have i for dread?
God’s daunting Law Christ mastered in my stead.
Faultless I stand, with righteous works not mine,
Saved by my Lord’s vicarious death and life.
Verse 3:
His robes for mine:
God’s Justice is appeased.
Jesus is Crushed, and thus the Father’s pleased
Christ drank God’s wrath on sin, then cried “tis done!”
sin’s wage is paid; propitiation won.
Verse 4:
His robes for mine:
such anguish none can know.
Christ, God’s beloved, condemned as though His foe.
He, as though I, accused and left alone;
I, as though He, embraced and welcomed home!
Chris Anderson–
I gave a link to his blog sight if you want to see some of the others he has written
Dearest blogger-in-law, were you desiring to keep this place secret? You trackbcked to Chris’ hymn, and now your blog is known to everyone who visits that page. You don’t have to worry, I don’t think anyone reads Chris’ blog. (Just kidding, Chris!
Yeah, i kind of gave up on that, but thanks for telling me i didn’t realize it did that ;p
Sorry about that. I’m glad you appreciated it, though. What an amazing theme on which to meditate!
BTW, we tweaked it a bit to make it simpler and lower for congregations, so you might want to get the newer pdf, if you’re using it at all. Or not.
One more thing: could you call me Chris rather than Christ? I’m sort of picky about that.
hah, sorry about the typo
Thanks for telling me about the new pdf
I hit the backspace button after typing your name —its a habit now! lol
